What if you had to survive on less than 2$ a day?
Over 700 million people in the world, that is what they are doing on a daily basis. Global poverty is not always just about money, it is also about not having access to clean water, food, education or even safety now a days due to all the violence going on around the whole world, but the good thing is that it is not impossible to solve.
Understanding The Problem
Poverty can loo any type of way in different places. In some countries, people live in a huge crowd in slums without any food or access to clean water, families can't afford their kids going to school so their kids aren't able to have access to decent education and sometimes have to skip meals in order to survive. It can happen anywhere and to anyone, poverty takes away basic rights. There are a lot of main causes of poverty, sometimes it can be the lack of education, another big one is climate change and natural disasters or war and displacement. These issues can get rose and pile on top of each other.
Why Does This Matter?
Poverty has the capability of not just hurting individuals, but also hurting communities and countries all around the world where thousands of people try to survive every day. With people being in poverty, they are more likely to get sick since they do not have the resources to maintain and keep the community clean, which can lead to them struggling in school and have the possibility of dying at such young age.
Who Is Involved?
There are many people who are involved in this such as organizations like UN, World Bank, and World Vision working all together to have a chance to reduce poverty. Also Governments that c are able to create polices and also provide aid. Individuals like normal hardworking people can also make the choice to help, but can also make the choice to hurt as well.
What is being done?
Countries are investing to have better aid and healthcare and are also investing to be able to have better educations for children to help them in the future to survive and lift them out of poverty. Schools are also being built, water being delivered, ad also supporting small businesses. The goals that countries have is to end global poverty by 2030.
Why Is This All Connected?
Global poverty also involves things like climate change, conflict, and economic inequality. Being able to solve poverty can also help solve those problems as well and make the world healthier, safe, and more equal to everyone.
Time For A Better Future
Poverty is a massive problem, but it’s not unbeatable. Every action big or small counts.
